Overview
The Striped Tongue project included developing the branding and collateral for their pioneering entertainment venue - a vibrant mashup of an arcade, restaurant, and cannabis lounge tailored for adults 21-35 seeking an inclusive night out.
Approach
I began by designing a signature logo that captures the quirky, tongue-in-cheek spirit of the brand. I began by image tracing the type in Adobe Illustrator, but traced the tracing over and over again to create a distressed and angular look. The final product was then edited to add the leaf in the counter of the "O." This logo has a stacked and horizontal form.
Extending the brand's playful personality, I created a suite of supporting graphic assets like arcade game cards, food and cannabis menus, coasters, and matchbooks. The custom illustration of a mouth sticking out its striped tongue sets the irreverent-yet-fun tone. Rendered in my iconic vector illustration style, elements like bright colors, bold striped pattern, and marijuana inspired motifs amplify The Striped Tongue's unmistakable edge and youthful cool-factor.
To showcase the final branding suite, I art directed a lively product photograph featuring my custom illustrations and designs for menus, coasters, and more arranged in a stylized, on-brand composition.
